99th Medical Group (Nellis AFB)
The 99th Medical Group operates the Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center at Nellis Air Force Base, a key healthcare provider for active-duty service members, their families, retirees, and eligible veterans in Southern Nevada. Groundbreaking for the facility occurred in July 1991, and it officially opened its doors in July 1994. Initially a joint venture with the Department of Veterans Affairs, it holds the distinction of being the nation's first hospital planned and built as such a partnership. In 2017, it was renamed the Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center. The facility is a Level III Trauma Center, a distinction that makes it the first Air Force medical facility to treat civilian critical care and trauma patients. The medical center is one of the Air Force's leading academic and medical centers of excellence, with partnerships with the Uniformed Services University, the University of Nevada Las Vegas, University Medical Center, and the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System. It serves approximately 48,000 beneficiaries and is staffed by around 1,800 personnel. The 99th Medical Group's mission is to deliver outstanding care to every person, every time, everywhere, with a vision of being always ready. The facility offers a wide range of medical services, including preventive, emergency, and acute care, and is committed to operational readiness and customer service. The 99th Medical Group supports five wings and 52 tenant units at Nellis AFB.
