673rd Medical Group (Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson)
The 673rd Medical Group (673 MDG) at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) is a 65-bed military treatment facility that provides comprehensive healthcare services to approximately 159,000 Department of Defense (DoD) and Veterans Affairs (VA) beneficiaries. Established on June 24, 2010, it operates as a joint venture between the U.S. Air Force and the VA, making it a primary referral center for Alaska. The facility features eight operating rooms and has the capability to expand to 150 beds in response to mission needs, including a 100-bed En Route Patient Staging System. It supports global military engagement through various specialized teams like Expeditionary Medical Support elements and Critical Care Air Transport Teams. The 673rd Medical Operations Squadron offers primary care, including family medicine, pediatrics, and internal medicine, as well as specialty care like mental health, dermatology, and physical therapy. The 673rd Surgical Operations Squadron provides a full range of surgical capabilities, from general surgery and orthopedics to ophthalmology and pain management. Other squadrons manage operational readiness, dental services for active-duty personnel, inpatient operations, and comprehensive support services like pharmacy, laboratory, and TRICARE operations. The facility is recognized for its partnership with the Alaska Department of Veteran Affairs, focusing on integrated services to provide efficient healthcare.
